How to do Abhyanga Massage?

Abhyanga is the massage technique that you can apply to yourself every day with the Mind& Body Balancing ayurvedic "Body Moisturiser and Massage Oils" produced by Daily Wellbeing.

Abhyanga Massage, which you will do with the massage oil suitable for your body type or needs in Ayurveda, is one of the most important tools you can apply to balance, heal and slow down the aging process and will start the process of wellaging by activating the healing power and healing mechanisms in your Lymphdrainage-System.

Self Abhyanga Massage

In order to increase your holistic health and wellbeing, it is recommended to apply Abhyanga massage, which is known to accelerate metabolism with blood circulation, strengthen the immune system, calm the mind, detoxify by evacuating toxins collected in the fluid between cells and improve muscle elasticity, on a daily basis.

How to do Self Abhyanga Massage?

Before starting the massage, it is essential to keep your massage oil bottle in a container of hot water for 15 minutes to bring it to a warm temperature and to keep your oil warm throughout the massage so that the toxins can be easily evacuated from the fluid between the cells. In other words, a detox effect cannot be occurred with a cold massage oil, except in hot season.

If you feel a shiver when you put the oil on your skin, the temperature is not suitable. When you applied the oil to your skin, it is important that it is at a temperature that will instantly relax you and soothe you. Of course, for the summer season, a cool oil (Pitta Oil) supports your skin to soothe your body, especially after the sunbathing.

Do Self Abhyanga Massage by yourself | First Practice in Abhyanga Massage

1. Start your massage from your head by pouring your warm massage oil into your palm. If you are going to do the massage after a shower like me, of course you cannot lubricate your hair. Then massage your skull in a circular motion without oil, with your dry fingertips, pressing lightly as if your hair is washed in the hairdresser. And in this way, accelerate the blood circulation in your skull area. I usually make myself a hair care day once a week and then I also do this massage, applying the oil liberally on my skull.

2. After your head area, pour oil into your palm again and start massaging your neck area. Spread your fingers slightly apart so that you can touch a larger area of skin along your neck. Continue massaging your neck and nape with gentle touches from bottom to top, touching the front and back of your neck, the back of your neck and shoulder blades.

3. After finishing this areas, pour warm massage oil into your hand again and lubricate your breasts in circular motions and your back as much as you can.

4. Now move on to the abdomen, which is a very important point. With warm oil, start massaging your abdomen with extremely gentle circular movements from left to right, that is, clockwise. This direction is very important because the Solar Plexus, the energy chakra near our abdomen, works clockwise like all our chakras. We can relax our energy centres with this movement and if there is any blockage in the energy channels, we can open them in this way.

5. After the abdominal area is finished, you can move on to your arms and legs. Continue to massage the joints of the arms and legs with circular movements and the areas where the long bones are located, always from bottom-up and top-down.

6. After massaging the hips and thighs with back and forth and circular movements, we come to the feet, the last massage point on our body, which we recommend to spend the most time.

7. Sit down to massage your feet comfortably and complete your massage by applying light pressure on the soles of your feet with circular and back and forth movements, lubricating your fingers one by one. The massage movements you will apply to the soles of your feet will relax you deeply. The science of foot massage called reflexology is a very important practice. Of course, we will be doing this without knowing which points on the soles of our feet affect which organ, but what is important here is, to massage and stimulate our internal organs through the soles of our feet.
That's it!
If you have time, I recommend you to apply this massage for up to 15 minutes. In this way, I make a serious contribution to the balancing of both my body and mind.
If you have never experienced the healing effect of ayurvedic massage oils, which are the result of the combination of natural base and pure essential oils based on herbs, the feelings of satisfaction and happiness that will occur in your body as a result of this application may surprise you at first.

I would like to mention the most important points you should pay attention to during Self-Abhyanga Massage:
Of course, it is very important that the product you use during this massage is plant-based and natural in terms of activating the healing mechanisms. The massage oil or body moisturiser you use should not be a petroleum-based moisturising product and should not contain chemical preservatives such as paraben (methylparaben, ethylparaben, benzylparaben or buthylparaben etc.).
For this reason, please choose your products from pure herbal brands that you are sure of their reliability and naturalness. After all, everything you apply to your skin is directly mixed into your blood, keep this in mind. Personally, after taking a shower every morning or evening, I apply this massage in my daily routine with great pleasure within 5-10 minutes by choosing especially Vata Oil from my brand Daily Wellbeing Mind&Body Balancing Ayurvedic Body Moisturiser and Massage Oils.
Do not apply a moisturiser or oil to your skin at a temperature that will chill you during massage. We recommend using cold oils only in summer to cool and balance our skin after sunbathing. Therefore, you can pour your oil into a glass tea glass or a small bottle, leave it in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes and let it warm up. You may not be able to do this heating process every day during your after-bath massage, but you should definitely apply it especially during a one-hour full body massage that you can get once or twice a week.

Come on, start trying Abhyanga Massage by choosing a natural base oil such as sesame, jojoba, cocnut or olive oil or Daily Wellbeing Body Moisturiser and Massage Oils right now, let it be healing!
