Breathing Technique for Depression, Anxiety and Insomnia No:1

This breathing technique, which is also called Unity Consciousness Breathing, is recommended for mental detox, managing excessive stress, increasing self-confidence, healing illnesses related thyroids and preventing various tumour formations.

For insomnia, I mainly recommend practicing Anuloma Viloma

For depression and anxiety, you should regularly practice two breathing techniques in the mornings, and in the evenings; the first one is Anuloma Viloma , and the second one is either Bhramari , or Ujjai Breathing Techniques.

In this post, I will explain the Bhramari breathing technique.

Bhramari Breathing Technique;

•             You can practice either sitting upright in a chair or on the floor.

•             Children older than 7 years can practice.

•             You can practice minimum 7 breaths, and maximum 17 breaths.

•             Practice only once a day.

Contraindications (Definite Inadvisable Situation)

•             Ear or throat infections in the near past

•             Chest pain

•             High blood pressure (>160>100: People who use high blood pressure medicine can practice)

•             Epileptic seizure (If you had it within the past 6 months)

Benefits

•             Resonates sinuses and thyroids. Cleans the sinuses.

•             Normalizes the functioning of thyroid glands that are over functioning, irregularly functioning, or nonfunctioning.

•             Widens the coronary vessels.

•             Increases the mindfulness.

•             Extra communication will start and synaptic area will increase by activating all of the neurons in the brain, and synaptic connections; in other words, your consciousness and mindfulness will increase.

•             Brain epifiz and thymus glands will be strongly activated by resonating them.

•             Healing of the brain epifiz tumors and hypophysis tumors.

•             It spreads vibrations of the Unity of Consciousness to the entire physical and subtle body, and it will remind the whole body of the Unity of Consciousness in the cellular level.

•             It functions as a detox within the cells and between the cells.

•             It balances the main vibrations in the energy body.

•             Heals tinnitus.

•             It heals the illnesses related to stress.

•             It secretes the hormones for happiness: Serotonin, endorphin, and melatonin.

•             It exercises the vocal cords, as it tunes the voice to the best tone with respect to the body.

How to Practice?

•             On the floor, in the chair, office, bus, car, airplane; it doesn’t matter where you are. Sit comfortably, erect at 90 degrees.

•             If you are sitting in a chair, raise the knees to the hip level by putting something under your feet. I use the blue yoga blocks for this.

•             Softly close your eyes and mouth, and bring the tip of the tongue to the fire point. In order to create the waves of the vibrations, it is mandatory for the tip of the tongue to stay at the fire point. Otherwise, this breathing exercise can’t reach to its goal.

•             When you are practicing this breathing technique, you need to place your hands and your fingers on your face like this:

  1. Push the tragus gently with your thumbs inwards, and close your ears. Don’t push hard. Otherwise it will cause a headache.
  2. Place your index fingers on the third eye in between  your eyebrows.
  3. Put the other three fingers on your eye sockets.
  4. Inhale through your nose with your mouth closed.
  5. While you are exhaling through your nose gently, make a “HUMMM” sound/vibrations, as you keep your mouth shot.

•             Inhale and exhale like these 7 times.

•             If you like this technique, and also find it to be relaxing, you can practice it every day for 7 breaths.

•             You can increase it to 8 in the second week. In other words, 8 breaths, every day.

•             You can increase it by 1 breath during the third week. In other words, during the third week, you can practice 9 breaths per day.

•             You can keep going like this up to 17 breaths per day, while increasing it by 1 breath each week.

•             When you start with 7 breaths per day, and practice it regularly, you can go up to 17 breaths per day at the end of the 11th week.

•             17 is the maximum breath per day for life. You may not go over 17 breaths per day. Because, according to the Vedic Knowledge, our energy body produces 17 main vibrations, where 17 breaths will balance these 17 main vibrations.

•             Don’t be impatient, and go up to 17 breaths right off the start. It is important for the vibrations to prepare the physical body.
